When Kitani decided to reproduce this writing desk, we received drawings and other materials from Mr. Holger Nissen of WØRTS studio. After Jacob Kjær died in 1957, Christensen & Larcen Studio and WØRTS Studio continued the production of the desk. Jacob Kjær’s design was based on traditional furniture and has been a textbook example of woodwork. Numerous Danish people take pride in the Queen of Denmark and enthusiastically support the Danish royal family. It has been a practice in the country that a special piece of furniture is made and presented to the royal family to celebrate special occasions such as their birthdays. For the public, the same model but made from a different wood species is offered on the market. Only privileged studios can produce furniture for the royal family. At the time this desk was produced, Jacob Kjær Studio, Christensen & Larcen Studio, and WØRTS Studio were the ones that had the honor to present their products to the royal family, from which Kitani inherited the traditions and skills. ■size [JK-157DK] :W1570×D800×H725mm [JK-136DK] :W1360×D750×H725mm |
